Mcrobiology - Our concerns research

Microbiology

Bacteria

Bacteria are a major topic of interest among the Microbiology Track faculty.  Specific areas of interest include:

  1. Bacterial cell morphology; and bacterial manipulation of host physiology.

  2. Molecular mechanisms of bacterial.

  3.  Bacterial secretion and effectors systems.

Fungi

Researchers are study a wide variety of eukaryotic fungi including:

  1. Isolation, identification and distribution of fungi.

  2. Plants pathogen fungi.

  3. Toxicity fungal.

  4. Cellular and molecular used in gene bank.

Environmental Microbiology

Faculty interests also encompass environmental microbiology and microbial ecology, with a particular emphasis on interactions between microbes and environmental contaminants.

Immunology and Host Response

Immunology and the host response to infection is a major area of interest among our Faculty. Specific topics of interest include the role of cytokines in the host response to infection; mechanisms of pathogen detection and elimination by innate immune detection and effector systems; and the role of adaptive immune response to infection.

Molecular Genetics

The faculties have combined interests in microbiology and molecular genetics. Research topics of interest include DNA recombination and repair; structure and enzymatic function of nucleic acids and proteins; molecular biology of ion movement across membranes; and molecular mechanisms of cell differentiation and cell cycle progression.
